Lewes Town Council is the parish authority for the town of Lewes. The council provides a range of services and facilities including allotments, three community venues – Lewes Town Hall, All Saints Centre and Malling Community Centre, a Community Grant scheme as well as owning Pells pool, lake and recreation ground, Lewes Priory and 44 hectares of open downland at Landport Bottom.
We have vacancies within the team for people to help us at our three community centres – keeping them clean, tidy, and in good repair while also assisting customers old and new, and sharing some of the administrative work. The teams are composed of the Centre managers, the assistant managers and these posts, although each works single-handed most of the time. Working shifts are agreed usually one month in advance and include weekends, early mornings, evenings and split shifts (included within salary).
The casual postholders will be offered shifts to help us when we are busy or need to cover annual leave. Like the full-time post holder casual staff will need to be willing to work flexible shifts.
The role is varied and we seek someone who is customer focussed and who gets on with whatever needs doing; will take pride in keeping the venue and its equipment clean and tidy and who will remember to order the toilet-rolls!
Job details and an application form are available to download, or contact us for a pack. Benefits include 22 days annual leave, bank holidays and 3 statutory days at Christmas as well as membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
