Communications Officer Maternity Cover

(based at Lewes Town Hall)

19 hours per week – fixed term contract for up to 10 months

Scale 4 Spinal Column Point 7 £11,487 fixed

Lewes Town Council is the parish authority for the town of Lewes. The council provides a range of services and facilities including allotments, three community venues, a Community Grant scheme as well as owning Pells pool, lake and recreation ground, Lewes Priory and 44 hectares of open downland at Landport Bottom.

The council is seeking a self-motivated professional to join our friendly team working to deliver proactive, creative and effective communications that increase awareness of and engagement with the council’s functions, facilities and services.

The post holder will provide communications advice and support to the organisation to maximise impact of council activities and services, as well as ensuring routine provision of information.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital in this role, with the ability to write positive media stories to promote the Town Council’s services. Proven experience in the use of ICT to deliver communications through a variety of media and channels is also essential.

Other duties include providing administrative support for the organisation, as well as attending some evening and weekend events and meetings.
