Councillors
On this page you can find out who your councillor is, and how to contact them.
Lewes Town Council comprises of eighteen councillors who represent four wards with elections held every four years. Each year, the council elects from its members (councillors) a Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor. The Mayor is the chair of the council for the year, and the Deputy Mayor will deputise for them in their absence.
Lewes Town Councillors are entitled to a basic allowance. Councillors have to follow a Code of Conduct and complete a Register of Members’ Interests, details of these can be found on our Policies and Strategic Documents page. The council holds regular meetings with its committees to discuss and determine policy. The Full Council meets approximately every five weeks and often creates working parties for large projects or short tasks. These can co-opt additional members from the community.
Ward boundaries last changed in 2019, due to a review by the Local Government Boundary Commission, when a fourth ward (Central) was introduced. If you are unsure of which ward you live in please see this map (effective from May 2019). To understand your ward by an exact address you must contact Lewes District Council.
